In a devastating turn of events, five lives were lost and over 20 others sustained injuries when a bus overturned in Jashpur, Chhattisgarh. The Friday morning crash involved a service bus from Kurdeg, Jharkhand, bound for Kunkuri, which flipped after brakes gave way on a slope.
Eyewitness accounts paint a grim picture: around 9:45 AM, the CG 14 G 0263 bus hurtled down a decline in Godamba village, Kardega area. Despite warnings from aboard, the driver couldn’t stop the runaway vehicle, which somersaulted near an under-construction home.
Over two dozen souls were onboard. Quick-thinking locals mobilized, notifying officials and using heavy equipment for rescue operations. Three ambulances rushed the hurt to medical aid.
Kunkuri’s Block Medical Officer Kuujur identified victims as Mahesh Ram (45), Bimla (42) from Makribandha, Sampati Devi (52) from Simdega, and Digeshwar (40) with his 5-month-old Ghanshyam from Dhodi. District Collector Rohit Vyas stood by the facts.
