Station Officer Sandeep Bharatiya detailed how a halted truck driver detected the foul smell and located the body 15 meters from the road connecting Mauganj, Rewa, and Uttar Pradesh destinations like Mirzapur and Varanasi. He notified a shop owner, triggering a swift police response and transfer of the body for autopsy.
Estimated age of the victim: 30-35 years. Decomposition has rendered facial recognition impossible, prompting a dragnet across nearby jurisdictions. ‘Missing persons data from Mauganj, Rewa, and Sidhi is under review,’ Bharatiya noted. ‘Autopsy insights or family claims will be key.’
The site, agricultural land dotted with occasional highway stalls, underscores vulnerabilities in semi-rural transit zones. A multi-pronged probe is assessing homicide, abandonment, or misadventure.
