Lionel Messi’s magic and Rodrigo De Paul’s precision propelled Inter Miami to a 2-1 conquest of DC United in MLS action on March 8 in Baltimore. The victory, their second in a row, nets them three points and boosts confidence early in the season.
Miami struck first in the 17th minute via De Paul. Berterame’s left-wing raid culminated in a back-heel to Segovia, who intelligently switched play to De Paul on the right. The Argentine midfielder controlled, turned, and blasted a right-footed rocket into the top-left corner. Segovia notched his third assist, underscoring the team’s growing cohesion.
Ten minutes later, Messi extended the advantage to 2-0. Silvetti’s first assist of the season fed the captain, who buried his third goal – his 80th for Inter Miami – with ice-cool precision. The first half belonged to the visitors.
DC United clawed back in the 75th minute courtesy of Baribo, but Miami weathered the storm to secure the win.
Mascherano lauded the performance: ‘We owned the first half, generated opportunities, and struck decisively. The second was grittier, but two road wins in three outings is encouraging. We’ll build on the positives while refining.’
