A trivial Ludo dispute has claimed a life in Bihar’s Bhagalpur, where property businessman Rishabh Jha was brutally shot by associate Saurabh Sah alias Mayank Gupta. The 30-year-old victim, whose father is a former soldier, was enjoying a game with friends in Pirpainti when tempers flared fatally.
Details from the police dossier are chilling. With Saurabh’s last game piece hanging by a thread, he quipped in jest, ‘Spare my last goti, friend, don’t make me shoot.’ Rishabh, undeterred, made the decisive play, dooming Saurabh’s chances. What followed was no jest—a single gunshot from Saurabh’s pistol left Rishabh fighting for life.
Rushed first to a local facility and then to JLN Medical College, Rishabh breathed his last the next day. Panic gripped the area, but police response was lightning-fast. Saurabh was collared at the hospital, leading to arrests of accomplices Bhanu Kumar (Sanjeev Shah), Pritam Kumar, Rahul Ranjan (Monu Kumar), and Deepak Kumar nearby. Recovered evidence: the smoking gun, live rounds, a casing, and devices.
Bhagalpur’s top cop, SSP Pramod Kumar Yadav, unveiled a premeditated angle. Business partners in land dealings, the men had bad blood over money Rishabh was owed. The game was a sinister setup for murder, police believe.
This tragedy underscores how everyday pastimes can mask deadly intentions amid financial feuds and easy firearm access. The community mourns a young life cut short, while investigators press on, determined to dismantle the plot and deliver accountability.
