Empowerment took center stage in Mumbai Thursday, where Preeti Adani, Adani Foundation head, revealed the ‘Swabhiman’ program’s massive scale-up. Aiming to financially strengthen 10 lakh women pan-India in five years, the initiative spotlights urban marginalized communities.
Since inception, Swabhiman has trained over 4,500 women in vocational skills, money management, and startup essentials – from market reach to business scaling. Graduates shine as ‘Lakhpati Didis,’ securing family futures amid economic highs.
Beyond training, it’s a celebration of self-belief, Adani said, backed by digital and financial literacy plus market ties. Maharashtra leads with a 1 lakh women commitment, fueling national ambitions.
Mayor Ritu Tawade spotlighted collaborations since 2022-23, birthing success stories. Aligning with the Lakhpati Didi mission, the state nears 6-6.5 million empowered women soon, from current 37 lakh.
Minister Aditi Tatkare stressed such drives’ role in fostering self-reliance alongside govt programs. Adani paid tribute to Savitribai Phule’s pioneering fight for girls’ education, crediting women’s resolve for literacy’s leap to 75%.
Vibrant stalls displayed handmade items, foods, and skills-based offerings, embodying potential unleashed. Swabhiman, via partnerships, morphs groups into enterprise powerhouses for sustainable growth.
