    Raipur 2 December 2024/ In the GST Council meeting today, there was an in-depth discussion on the future of compensation cess under the Goods and Services Tax (GST). The meeting was held at Madhya Pradesh Bhawan in New Delhi, chaired by the Union Minister of State for Finance and attended by Finance Ministers and senior officials of various states.

    The presence of Chhattisgarh Finance Minister Shri OP Chaudhary was important in this meeting. He presented many important suggestions before the council. During this time Finance Secretary Mukesh Bansal was also present.

    The Group of Ministers of the GST Council includes members from Assam, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. This group will give suggestions to make the GST system more robust and transparent. The GST Council, which is the constitutional body responsible for coordination and uniformity of indirect taxation in the country, will take the final decision on the subject.
