External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke to his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on Thursday and reviewed the standing of disengagement alongside the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in jap Ladakh. The two leaders agreed to stay in contact and set up a hotline for the trade of opinions between the 2 ministries, based on an announcement by the Ministry of External Affairs on Friday morning.
Last week, armies of the 2 nations which have been locked in a navy standoff in jap Ladakh concluded withdrawal of troops and weapons from north and south banks of Pangong Tso within the high-altitude area.
Releasing particulars of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s 75-minute telephonic dialog together with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on Thursday, the MEA stated that China was instructed that bilateral relations have been impacted severely over final 12 months.
“EAM said that Boundary Question may take time to resolve but disturbance of peace and tranquillity, including by violence, will inevitably have a damaging impact on the relationship,” the ministry stated.
