A New era of women’s empowerment in Chhattisgarh
The future year is declared “Madhatari Gaurav Year”
The government led by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai writes a new chapter in women’s development
Raipur, 24 December 2025 – In the state of Chhattisgarh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, the government has announced that the coming year will be celebrated as “Madhatari Gaurav Year” (Mother Pride Year), giving supreme priority to the respect, protection, and empowerment of maternal strength.
Chief Minister Sai stated that the Chhattisgarh government is making new decisions in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India. The ambitious vision “Chhattisgarh Anjore Vision 2047” has been prepared for a developed Chhattisgarh. Recognizing the active participation of women, the state has decided to celebrate the coming year as Madhatari Gaurav Year.
The chief minister clarified that in Madhatari Gaurav Year the resolve to raise women’s empowerment, safety, health, self-reliance, and social dignity to new heights will be firmly established. He expressed confidence that this year will write a new chapter of leadership, participation, and respect for maternal strength in Chhattisgarh, forming a strong foundation for a developed, harmonious, and empowered Chhattisgarh.
Chief Minister Sai said that the greatest blessing for the government comes from mothers and sisters. Their faith, support, and blessings energise and direction public service activities. Motivated by this emotional and social sense of duty, the state government has taken this historic decision.
In his first year of service as chief minister, he dedicated it to “Vishwas Year” (Year of Trust), which restored faith between the government and people. The second year was celebrated as “Atal Nirman Year” (Atal Construction Year) in honor of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, during which many important projects on infrastructure strengthening, social development, and welfare were completed. Now the next year of service will be celebrated as Madhatari Gaurav Year dedicated to maternal strength, with mothers and sisters at the heart of all major schemes and programmes.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, the past two years of woman‑empowerment‑centric work has established Chhattisgarh as a model on the national stage. The government, using women’s respect, security, health, livelihood, and decision‑making as the core of its policies, has set a new direction for socio‑economic change.
In the Madhatari Vandan scheme, almost 7 million married women in the state are receiving a monthly grant of ₹1,000. To date, 22 instalments of ₹14,306 crore 33 lakh have been directly credited into their bank accounts. The allocation of ₹5,500 crore for women welfare is clear proof that women are at the centre of the state’s development journey.
To give women property rights, decisions such as a 1% discount on registry fees, the construction of 368 women halls, and online payment of fees for attendants and community workers have further strengthened good governance and transparency. Subsidised loans of ₹12,946.65 lakh have been provided to 42,878 women groups to empower self‑help groups economically. In addition, the ready‑to‑eat initiative has been assigned to women self‑help groups in six districts including Bastar.
To create new livelihood opportunities for women, initiatives such as the Nomai Saksham Kram (Nomenative Empowerment Plan), the Nabaihān Scheme, Digital Saakhi, DiDi e‑rickshaw scheme, sewing machine assistance, and the Mini‑Mata Madhatari Jatan scheme have been launched. A large portion of aid under the Chief Minister’s Girl‑Marriage Scheme is being directly deposited into girls’ bank accounts, boosting transparency and self‑dependence.
In the area of women’s safety, Chhattisgarh also implemented a historic step. A one‑stop centre, 181 women helplines, and a unified 112 call centre have ensured rapid and effective assistance in crisis situations. The Sukhad Sahara scheme provides monthly financial aid to more than 218,000 widows and abandoned women.
To strengthen adolescent girls’ health and education, the Swachita plan, cycle distribution plan, and the construction of the Unity Mall in Nawa Raipur will link products of women self‑help groups to national and international markets. Efforts to give global recognition to the ‘Jashpur’ brand, run by tribal women of Jashpur district, also open new doors of opportunity for women.
The Minister for Women and Child Development, Mrs Laxmi Rajwaade, said that creating a safe, respectful, and empowering environment for women is the highest priority of the state government. She added that schemes such as Madhatari Vandan, Nabaihān, Lakshapati DeDi, Swachita, and Madhatari Halls are building a strong foundation for women’s overall development.
In 2025‑26, the Women and Child Development Department was allocated ₹8,245 crore. This statement clearly communicates that women welfare, safety, and empowerment remain the state’s highest priority. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Chhattisgarh is becoming a symbol of a new direction, hope, and change in the field of women empowerment.
