Chhattisgarh enters a new era of women’s empowerment
The upcoming year is declared ‘Mother Pride Year’

Raipur, 24 December 2025 – Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, under his leadership, has announced that Chhattisgarh will observe the upcoming year as ‘Mother Pride Year,’ giving supreme priority to respecting, protecting, and empowering motherly strength.
Chief Minister Sai noted that in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India, the Chhattisgarh government continues to take new decisions. The Chhattisgarh Anjor Vision 2047 has been prepared for a developed Chhattisgarh. Given women’s active participation in the state, it was decided to celebrate the forthcoming year as Mother Pride Year.
He clarified that ‘Mother Pride Year’ will signify a firm resolve to elevate women’s empowerment, safety, health, self-reliance, and social dignity to new heights. He expressed confidence that this year will write a new chapter of leadership, participation, and respect for maternal strength in Chhattisgarh, laying a strong foundation for a developed, harmonious, and empowered state.
Chief Minister Sai said the greatest blessing to the government comes from mothers and sisters. Their trust, support, and blessings infuse public service with renewed energy and direction. Motivated by this emotional and social sense of responsibility, the state government made this historic decision.
Chief Minister Sai explained that his first year in office was dedicated as ‘Trust Year,’ restoring confidence between the government and the people. The second year was celebrated as ‘Atal Construction Year’ in honor of former Prime Minister and Padma Vibhushan ATB Vajpayee, during which many critical tasks of infrastructure strengthening, social development, and public welfare were completed. The upcoming year will be celebrated as ‘Mother Pride Year’ dedicated to maternal strength, with women as the focus of all major state schemes and programs.
Under Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai’s leadership, the last two years of focusing on women’s empowerment have established Chhattisgarh as a model on the national stage. The government has set a new direction for socio-economic change, making respect, safety, health, livelihood, and decision-making power of women the foundation of its policies.
Under the Mother Vandan Scheme that strengthens women’s economic independence, about 7 million married women receive ₹1,000 assistance monthly. To date, a total of ₹14,306.33 crore has been transferred in 22 installments directly into their bank accounts. The ₹5,500 crore allocation for women welfare clearly demonstrates that women are at the heart of the state’s development journey.
Decisions such as a 1% exemption from registration fees, construction of 368 Mother Councils, and online payment of allowances for men (mitanins) and Anganwadi workers have further strengthened good governance and transparency. A subsidised loan of ₹12,946.65 lakh was provided to 42,878 women’s self-help groups to economically empower them. Meanwhile, ready-to-eat operations in six districts, including Bastar, have been assigned to women’s self-help groups.
To create new livelihood opportunities for women, the government has implemented schemes like the Noni Empowerment Plan, Nawabi Haan Plan, Digital Sakhi, Didi E-Rickshaw Plan, sewing machine assistance, and MiniMata Mother Care Plan. Under the Girl Marriage Scheme, a large portion of assistance money is deposited directly into the girl’s bank account, enhancing transparency and self-reliance.
In the domain of women’s safety, Chhattisgarh has launched historic initiatives: a one-stop centre, 181 women helpline, and integrated operation of dialing 112, ensuring swift and effective assistance during crises. Under the Sukhd Sahaara Scheme, more than 218,000 widows and abandoned women receive monthly economic assistance.
To strengthen adolescent girls’ health and education, the Shuddhi Scheme, bicycle distribution plan, and the construction of Unity Mall in New Raipur connect women’s self-help group products to national and international markets. Efforts to bring global recognition to the ‘Jashpuro’ brand run by tribal women of Jashpur district are also opening new doors of opportunity for women.
The Minister of Women and Child Development, Mrs. Lakshmi Rajwade, stated that making women economically self-reliant while ensuring a safe, respectful, and empowered environment is the state government’s supreme priority. She highlighted that the Mother Vandan Scheme, Nawabi Haan, Lakhpati Didi, Shuddhi, and Mother Council initiatives are building a solid base for women’s comprehensive development.
In the fiscal year 2025-26, the Women and Child Development Department received a budget of ₹8,245 crore, sending a clear message that women’s welfare, safety, and empowerment remain the highest priority. Under Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai’s leadership, Chhattisgarh today emerges as a symbol of new direction, hope, and change in the field of women’s empowerment.
