Aamir Khan is preparing to return to the big screen with ‘Sitaare Zameen Par,’ his first film since 2022’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha.’ The film is set to release in cinemas on June 20, 2025.

‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ features Aamir Khan and Genelia D’souza, alongside Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, Vedant Sharmaa, Naman Misra, Rishi Shahani, Ashish Pendse, Samvit Desai, Simran Mangeshkar, Aayush Bhansali, Dolly Ahluwalia, Gurpal Singh, Brijendra Kala, Zeenat Hussain and Nikhat Khan.

The film is an adaptation of the Spanish film ‘Champions’ (2018). The plot involves a basketball coach who is assigned to coach a team of players with disabilities as part of community service.

Tickets for the film will be available through online platforms like BookMyShow. There are indications that Aamir Khan may opt for a ‘pay-per-view’ release instead of a direct-to-OTT release. This approach would require viewers to pay to watch the movie, similar to the theatrical model, potentially benefitting the producers.

Aamir Khan reportedly turned down a Rs 120 crore offer from Amazon Prime Video for the movie’s OTT rights.
