Advancing Science: AI-Driven Neural Network Solves the Advection Equation

Dr. Sai Nethra Betgeri has developed a new AI-based method that integrates machine learning and physics to solve the advection equation, a core equation in science. Using a physics-informed neural network (PINN) created with PyTorch, the study demonstrates how AI can provide quicker, more accurate solutions to longstanding problems. The advection equation, which is key to weather forecasting, climate modeling, and aerospace engineering, typically requires substantial computational effort. The new approach allows a neural network to learn the solution while inherently respecting the rules of physics, which provides an efficient solution.
