Breaking new ground in healthcare support, AIIMS has apprised the Delhi High Court of its facility status, announcing a 3000-bed rest house at Ansari Nagar to house patient attendants. This comes amid heightened scrutiny over the institute’s capacity to handle India’s largest patient influx.

The submitted document paints a vivid picture of AIIMS’s operations: over 3 million annual OPD consultations, cutting-edge research labs, and trauma centers operating at peak. Yet, the glaring shortfall in guest accommodations has drawn judicial intervention via PIL. The Vishram Sadan will rise on prime campus land, boasting energy-efficient designs, solar power, and telemedicine kiosks for remote check-ins.

With environmental clearances in place, groundwork begins soon, promising jobs for local workers and economic ripple effects. The report quantifies benefits: projecting to serve 5 lakh visitors yearly, slashing reliance on external lodgings. Justice’s bench commended the proactive stance, directing compliance with green building norms.

This isn’t just bricks and mortar—it’s a lifeline for rural patients traveling afar. As AIIMS eyes super-specialty expansions, such amenities fortify its role as a national asset. The path ahead involves community consultations to tailor services, ensuring the project resonates with ground realities.
