Ranchi. In the Jharkhand tender commission scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has got another five days of remand of the state government’s Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam. Earlier, after his arrest, the ED had got six days of remand for questioning him. After the completion of this period on Wednesday, the minister was produced in Ranchi’s Special PMLA Court amid tight security. Alamgir Alam ED Remand
Public Prosecutor Shiv Kumar alias Kaka, representing the ED, had requested for another seven days’ remand for interrogation of Alamgir Alam, which was opposed by the accused minister’s advocate. After hearing the arguments of both the sides, the court ordered extension of remand for five days. ED had arrested minister Alamgir Alam on the evening of May 15 in connection with the recovery of Rs 32 crore 20 lakh cash from the hideouts of his PS Sanjeev Lal.
Before this, he was questioned for a total of 14 hours on 14 and 15 May. In this case, the minister’s PS Sanjeev Kumar Lal and his servant Jahangir Alam were arrested on 7 May itself. Both of them were questioned on remand for 14 days and after presenting them in the court on Tuesday, both of them have been sent to jail in judicial custody.
ED has told the court that an organized gang of engineers, officers and ministers was active in the tender commission scam in the Rural Development Department. As a sample, ED has also submitted a paper related to the details of 25 tenders worth Rs 92 crore passed in January in the court, in which it is clearly written that Minister Alamgir Alam had taken Rs 1.23 crore as commission in all the said 25 tenders.
