The Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) in Gaya, part of the Amritsar Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC), is set to become Bihar’s largest industrial township. This large-scale project, sprawling across 1670 acres in the Dobhi block of Sherghati sub-division, is backed by an investment of ₹1339 crore, including land costs. Upon its completion, the industrial node is anticipated to attract major manufacturing investments, creating a large number of job opportunities and contributing significantly to regional development. Land acquisition has already been completed. The project is expected to see the selection of agency completed by the end of March 2026. The EPC tender will be released in July 2025. The tender is being finalized in consultation with the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC). The project is part of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme. Key sectors that will be established in the IMC include agro and food processing, ready-made garments, and technical industries, such as auto components, steel-based products, aerospace, defence, building materials, furniture, handloom, and handicrafts. The project is expected to attract ₹16,524 crore in investments and generate over 109,000 jobs. The project gained approval from the CCEA on August 28, 2024, and environmental clearance on March 18, 2025. A SPV, Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Ltd (BIMCGL), was incorporated for the project on January 6, 2025. The state government approved a 7 km green field alignment connecting the site with the Golden Quadrilateral, and has undertaken policy reforms. The development of IMC will add more economic value to the region, with a skilled workforce and professional institutions in the area.
