Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, is scheduled to visit Ranchi on July 10th to chair a crucial meeting of the Eastern Zonal Council at the Radisson Blu Hotel. The state government has finalized the preparations. Manoj Kejriwal, Joint Secretary from the Union Home Ministry, visited the city to assess the arrangements, which have necessitated changes in traffic management.
During the 27th Eastern Zonal Council meeting, the Jharkhand government will present several key demands to the central government. These demands include the settlement of outstanding dues, the provision of special central grants, the restoration of the SRE fund, discussions on unresolved issues with Bihar and West Bengal, and an assessment of the previous meeting’s progress report (ATR).
Specifically, the government will seek the recovery of dues from coal companies, the Jal Jeevan Mission, and pension schemes. Additionally, they will request special assistance for development initiatives in Naxal-affected regions, as well as the reinstatement of the SRE fund in the affected districts. The discussions will encompass property and liability divisions with Bihar, along with water distribution matters with West Bengal.
The meeting will bring together 68 attendees, including prominent figures such as Jharkhand’s Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore, and representatives from Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal, including their Chief Ministers and cabinet members.
