    Anti-Naxal Operation Turns Deadly: ASI Martyred in IED Explosion on Jharkhand-Odisha Border

    Anti-Naxal Operation Turns Deadly: ASI Martyred in IED Explosion on Jharkhand-Odisha Border

    An anti-Naxal operation on the Jharkhand-Odisha border turned tragic on Saturday when an IED blast resulted in the death of an Assistant Sub Inspector. The explosion took place around 9:30 AM in a forested area. Assistant Sub Inspector Satyavan Kumar Singh of the CRPF 134th Battalion sustained critical injuries and later died in hospital.

    On Friday, a joint team of security forces had been conducting an anti-Naxal search operation in the Bolang police station area of Rourkela district, Odisha, bordering Jharkhand. During this operation, an IED detonated, severely injuring ASI Satyavan Kumar. He was immediately taken to a hospital in Rourkela, where he died.

    ASI Satyavan Kumar Singh, a resident of Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, served with the CRPF’s 134th Battalion. He was given a ceremonial tribute at the CRPF 133rd Battalion headquarters in Dhurwa, Ranchi, on Saturday. Following the attack, security forces have increased vigilance and stepped up search operations in the area.

    Earlier, in Chaibasa, West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, Constable Sunil Dhan of the Jharkhand Jaguar was killed on April 12, 2025, in an IED blast during an encounter with Naxals. Constable Dhan was a resident of Khunti district in Jharkhand. He was honored with tributes from Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar, DGP Anurag Gupta, and several senior police officials at the Jharkhand Jaguar headquarters in Tender Gram, Ranchi.
