An unusual and concerning incident has occurred at the cremation ground located near the new pond in Arang, leading to unrest in the local community. The family of Nona Dhurandhar, a resident of Ward 12, had recently performed her last rites at the designated cremation ground in Ward 6. Upon returning to collect the ashes, they were shocked to find them missing.

The family found only remnants at the cremation site, including three small earthen pots, partially burnt wicks, a piece of a shirt, and a piece of wood used for handling the remains. The disappearance of the ashes has caused significant distress, as Hindu customs consider the ash immersion a crucial practice for the spiritual well-being of the deceased. The family is now actively searching for the missing ashes, hoping to perform the required immersion ceremony in a sacred river.

Local authorities, including the Chief Municipal Officer and the Arang Police Station in-charge, have been notified about the incident. The family has requested enhanced security measures, including a watchman and CCTV cameras at the cremation ground to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Local residents and family members speculate about the possibility of ritualistic activity, given that tantric practices are believed to increase during the Sawan month. They suspect that a tantric practitioner or someone with superstitious beliefs might have stolen the ashes. Authorities are urged to investigate the matter thoroughly and take appropriate action.
