The positive development of road upgrades in Araria, Bihar, has been overshadowed by a tragic increase in road accidents. Within a span of five days, the district has seen a surge in fatalities, with seven lives lost. A significant problem is the blatant disregard for traffic rules, especially among vehicles utilizing the National Highway.

On Saturday evening, a fatal crash near the Simraha overbridge on the Araria-Farbisganj National Highway resulted in the deaths of three youths. This followed a Thursday incident where a 30-year-old man was killed after being hit by an unknown truck. The deceased was from Khajurbari village.

Accidents have been relentless. On Thursday, a 75-year-old man died in an accident on the Simraha-Saifganj road. An earlier incident on June 9th in the Mahlagaon police station area resulted in the deaths of two youths and injuries to three others after their vehicle skidded on drying maize.

The families of the three youths involved in the Saturday accident, which included a biryani shop owner and two employees, are now suffering greatly. The National Highways 327E and 77, which traverse the Rani Jung area, have become prone to accidents, causing a continuous loss of life.
