General Upendra Dwivedi, the Army Chief, spoke at the Kargil Vijay Diwas ceremony, emphasizing the significance of Operation Sindoor. This operation was launched following the Pahalgam terror attack, which the Army Chief said was a crucial turning point. Operation Sindoor, conducted on May 6 and 7, targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. He stated that the operation was intended to send a strong message that supporting cross-border attacks will not be tolerated. Dwivedi also announced the creation of ‘Rudra’ brigades, integrated combat units designed to enhance military effectiveness. The Army Chief paid tribute to the Kargil martyrs and launched commemorative projects, while reaffirming the Army’s dedication to safeguarding the nation and supporting development in border regions.
