    In a recent announcement, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has retired from the Indian Premier League. The news was shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, accompanied by hints of his future participation in franchise cricket leagues across the globe. Ashwin did not fully disclose the specific reasons for his departure from the IPL. He did, however, indicate that his time in the league had come to an end, and he would begin a new phase exploring cricket in different leagues worldwide. He expressed his gratitude to all the franchises for the experiences and relationships he had cultivated over the years and thanked the IPL and the BCCI for their support. In the 2025 IPL season, Ashwin played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He played for INR 9.75 crore and took 7 wickets in 9 matches. Ashwin’s IPL journey began with CSK in 2009. He has played 221 matches for multiple franchises, taking a total of 187 wickets. He has represented Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.
