Bangladesh joined Afghanistan and India in beginning their Asia Cup 2025 journey with a win. The match between Bangladesh and Hong Kong, the third of the tournament, was held at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Bangladesh won the match by 7 wickets, earning 2 important points. This win made them the second team in Group B to start their campaign with a victory.

This was Bangladesh’s first match in the Asia Cup 2025 and they were successful. They restricted Hong Kong to 143 runs while bowling first. After that, Bangladesh achieved the target in 17.4 overs, with 3 wickets lost. In Group B, besides Bangladesh, Afghanistan has played one match and won. However, due to a better net run rate, Afghanistan is ahead of Bangladesh in the points table.

After defeating Hong Kong, Bangladesh has 2 points and a net run rate of 1.001. Afghanistan is at the top with 2 points and a net run rate of 4.700. Hong Kong is at third place with 2 losses. They are still looking for their first win, with a net run rate of -2.889. Sri Lanka has not played a match in this group yet. They will play their first match against Bangladesh on September 13.

Group A includes India, Pakistan, Oman, and UAE. Only one match has been played in this group. India defeated UAE by 9 wickets. Team India is currently at the top with 2 points and a net run rate of 10.483. Oman and Pakistan will play their first match against each other on September 12 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
