Selectors have reportedly suggested that Jaiswal concentrate on red-ball cricket. The possibility of Shubman Gill as vice-captain is uncertain due to the existing top-order batsmen. After the 2024 T20 World Cup, Gill has scored 893 runs in 22 matches, with a strike rate exceeding 147. Jaiswal has proven to be a key player in Test matches, and is encouraged to focus on Test cricket by the selectors.
