The recent Asia Cup trophy controversy was addressed during an Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting. BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla confronted ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi, leading to an apology and resolution regarding the trophy presentation. The Indian team had refused to receive the trophy from Naqvi after their victory over Pakistan in the final, causing the conflict.

Naqvi expressed his discontent, stating Indian players were disrespectful during the trophy presentation. He mentioned feeling disregarded as he stood with the trophy, and was subsequently unwilling to personally hand it over, requesting the Indian captain collect it in Dubai.

Rajiv Shukla responded, pointing out Naqvi’s actions, political role and his public statements. Shukla insisted on prior communication with the BCCI and suggested sending the trophy to either the ICC or ACC instead.

Following the exchange, Naqvi admitted his mistake and apologized. He agreed to send the trophy to the ICC, with Shukla acknowledging and accepting this resolution. The crux of the disagreement was the Indian team’s decision not to accept the trophy from Naqvi, leading to a dispute that was resolved in the ACC meeting.
