The body of Zubeen Garg, the popular Assamese singer, has reached Delhi from Singapore. The body was then transported to Guwahati. The remains were handed over to the Indian ambassador after a post-mortem on Saturday. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was in Delhi to pay tribute to the singer.

CM Sarma said the public can pay their respects to Garg at the Arjun Bhogeshwar Barua Sports Complex in Guwahati from 9 AM to 7 PM.

Many fans gathered at Garg’s home and the airport in Guwahati to pay their respects.

Musician and singer Manas Robin said Garg’s passing is a sad event for Indian music and the Assamese community. Diganta Barman, a Congress MLA, called Garg the soul of Assam and praised his generosity. Another Congress MLA, Nandita Das, said Garg will live on through his music. The CM said that a special plane will bring Garg’s body back to Guwahati.
