Maruti Suzuki has lowered the prices of several car models. This move is directly linked to the recent decrease in Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates, with the company committed to passing these savings on to its customers. The new prices will come into effect on September 22, 2025, aiming to drive sales during the upcoming festive season.
Maruti Suzuki emphasized that the discounts will extend beyond the GST reduction, incorporating additional offers from the company.
Specific price reductions include:
* S-Presso: Price cut up to ₹1.29 lakh
* Alto K10: Price cut up to ₹1.07 lakh
* Ertiga: Price cut up to ₹46,000
* Fronx and Brezza (SUVs): Price cut up to ₹1.12 lakh
Smaller cars benefit from more substantial price reductions. The S-Presso’s price is reduced by 12.6% to 24%, the Alto K10 by 10.6% to 20%, the Celerio by 8.6% to 17%, and the WagonR by 8.7% to 14%.
Maruti Suzuki’s marketing and sales executives noted that the sales decline in the small car segment was partially due to high prices. They anticipate that the GST reduction, changes in tax brackets, and lower interest rates will create a more favorable environment, encouraging more people to choose car ownership. Maruti Suzuki also intends to increase the overall car ownership rate in India, which is relatively low compared to other nations.
Passenger vehicle sales experienced an 8.8% decrease in August 2025. The new pricing strategy is intended to stabilize the entry-level market and encourage car purchases. Additionally, the company has committed to passing on the GST reduction to service and maintenance components, thus decreasing the overall vehicle ownership costs for customers.
