Citroen India has announced price reductions across its product lineup, with savings reaching up to ₹2.7 lakh. This adjustment is a direct consequence of the implementation of GST 2.0, as the company opted to pass the resulting cost benefits to its customers. The revised prices will take effect on September 22, 2025. The move is designed to make Citroen vehicles more competitive, stimulating the Indian passenger vehicle market.
**Detailed Price Cuts by Model:**
The following are the price reductions applicable to Citroen models:
* **C3 and C3X:** Experience price reductions of up to ₹84,000, with the C3 starting at ₹4.80 lakh (ex-showroom).
* **Aircross SUV:** The 5-seater and 7-seater variants will have savings of up to ₹50,000.
* **Basalt and Basalt X:** These models, known for their strong design, advanced features, and in-car assistant CARA, are now priced from ₹7.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
* **C5 Aircross SUV:** The premium C5 Aircross SUV will see the most substantial price drop, with the Shine variant now almost ₹2.7 lakh less, priced at ₹37.32 lakh (ex-showroom).
**Statement from the Company:**
Kumar Presh, Director of Automotive Brands at Stellantis India, stated that Citroen welcomes the GST reduction and its potential to make modern mobility more accessible. Citroen’s commitment is to fully extend the financial advantages to customers, making their vehicles more attractive, especially during the festive season.
**Boosting Sales During the Festive Season:**
The timing of the announcement aligns with the festive season in India, a period characterized by increased consumer spending, especially on cars, due to events such as Onam, Anant Chaturdashi, Navratri, Eid, and Diwali. Citroen anticipates that this pricing adjustment will drive sales and increase customer traffic in showrooms.
**Strategic Implications:**
GST 2.0 is designed to simplify the tax system and reduce the cost of mass-market vehicles. Citroen, which recently launched the Basalt X and C3X models, aims to enhance its market position within the compact and mid-size SUV segments in India through these price cuts.
