The Indian automotive market is currently experiencing a period of significant change. This is driven by the GST 2.0 reforms, which have reformed the tax system, thereby influencing car prices. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, a car in the entry-level segment, is the primary beneficiary of these changes. The Alto K10, which previously held the title, has been superseded. The S-Presso is now the most affordable car available. Maruti lowered the prices of its small cars after the implementation of GST 2.0. The S-Presso saw the greatest price reduction, with its starting price now at 3.50 lakh rupees. The Alto K10’s price starts at 3.70 lakh rupees. The primary reason for the price drop is the variation in safety features. The government has instituted a regulation requiring all new vehicles to have six airbags. Maruti has launched the Alto K10 and Celerio with these updates, while the S-Presso still only has two airbags. This feature discrepancy explains its lower price. It remains a good option for buyers looking for the cheapest car. Small petrol cars now have a tax cut of up to 10 percent. The tax was reduced from 28 percent to 18 percent, and the cess was removed. This impacts the on-road price, making cars more accessible in India. The most affordable car in India is no longer just a basic hatchback; it has an SUV-style design. The S-Presso’s raised stance, boxy shape, and crossover style distinguish it. This is particularly appealing to those moving from two-wheelers to cars.
