Honda has entered the electric motorcycle market with the introduction of the WN7 in Europe. The WN7 is Honda’s inaugural venture into the electric motorcycle segment. The name WN7 reflects the design concept: ‘W’ for ‘Become Wind’, ‘N’ for ‘Naked’ (referencing its streetfighter design), and ‘7’ for output. The WN7, based on the EV Fun concept shown at EICMA 2024 in Milan, is equipped with a fixed lithium-ion battery that provides a range exceeding 130 kilometers. An advantage of the WN7 is its charging capabilities; it can charge from 20% to 80% in about 30 minutes with a CCS2 fast charger, and a full charge at home takes less than three hours. Honda claims the new WN7 offers performance comparable to a 600cc petrol motorcycle, with torque equivalent to a 1000cc bike. Its smooth and quiet operation, combined with on-demand acceleration, should redefine expectations for electric motorcycles. Visually, the WN7 showcases an electric vehicle aesthetic, distinguishing it from Honda’s current ICE models. The bike features a 5-inch TFT screen in the dashboard, which integrates with smartphones via Honda RoadSync for navigation, music, and call notifications. Honda’s release of the WN7 underscores its commitment to sustainability. The company plans for all its motorbikes to be carbon-neutral by 2040 and aims for full carbon neutrality by 2050.
