The Indian government is working on introducing blended diesel, similar to the E20 petrol already available across the country. Unlike E20, which contains ethanol, the blended diesel will use isobutanol, which is derived from ethanol. This decision comes after previous attempts to blend ethanol directly with diesel were unsuccessful.
The experimentation phase is ongoing. Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, confirmed that the project is in the experimental stage, indicating that the timeline will depend on the results of the experiments.
