The first cement freight train on this route arrived in Anantnag from Rupnagar, Punjab on August 9th. Subsequently, several freight trains carrying army winter stocks, fruits, and essential goods have reached the valley. A railway spokesperson stated that these services have strengthened the supply chain, ensuring the timely delivery of essential goods to the valley. Officials believe that future operation of more trains on this route will create new opportunities for trade, supply chain management, and employment in the Kashmir Valley. This step is expected to be a faster, safer, and more reliable alternative to road transport.
