Tesla is accelerating its growth in the Indian electric vehicle market with plans to open a second retail center. The new Tesla Experience Centre is set to launch on August 11 at the premium WorldMark 3 campus in Aerocity, Delhi. This location will cater to customers within the National Capital Region, a key region driving India’s EV push. The upcoming Delhi center follows the launch of Tesla’s initial showroom at Maker Maxity Mall in Mumbai on July 15. The Mumbai launch was graced by the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who welcomed Tesla to the state and invited the company to establish R&D and manufacturing units. The Aerocity center is nearing completion, and the monthly rent is approximately Rs 25 lakh. Social media posts have already displayed images of the new outlet, underscoring the brand’s premium appeal. Currently, Tesla’s sole offering in India is the Model Y, with prices beginning at Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The Model Y is available in two configurations: a Standard rear-wheel drive model featuring a 60 kWh battery with a 500 km WLTP-certified range, and a Long-range rear-wheel drive variant, powered by a 75 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 622 km. Vehicle deliveries are being prioritized for customers in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram, with direct-to-home delivery utilizing flat-bed trucks. Further extending its reach, Tesla has upgraded its website, enabling vehicle registration across all states and union territories in India. The Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature is listed as an optional extra costing Rs 6 lakh on the website, though it will be introduced in India later. The Model Y launch also coincides with the launch of Tesla’s India website, highlighting the company’s commitment to growth in India, notwithstanding challenges related to EV policies and infrastructure.
