TVS is expanding its electric scooter portfolio with the upcoming Orbiter, a new EV model positioned below the iQube. The launch is confirmed for August 28. This marks a strategic move by TVS to cater to a broader market segment.
While the launch date is set, specific details about the Orbiter are yet to be revealed. It is believed that TVS is developing a basic, cost-effective scooter, potentially utilizing a hub-mounted motor to keep the price low. The Orbiter will serve as an entry-level electric scooter for TVS.
The Orbiter name is currently favored, but the company has also filed trademarks for alternative names. The iQube is offered in multiple variants, suggesting that the Orbiter will also be available in different configurations. With the iQube’s price ranging from ₹1 lakh to nearly ₹2 lakh, the Orbiter is expected to be priced lower. The Orbiter will likely feature a smaller battery, simpler components, and fewer features.
Government incentives are encouraging the adoption of EVs, and TVS is responding by introducing models at various price points to appeal to a wider consumer base.
