The Indian automotive market is experiencing a surge in electric vehicle demand, with manufacturers like Mahindra, BYD, and Tata Motors preparing to introduce new electric models. Maruti Suzuki will also soon launch its inaugural electric car. Here’s a look at the exciting new electric vehicles planned for 2025 and their anticipated range.
BYD Atto 2:
This mid-size electric SUV, recently spotted during testing, is expected to be available for sale by the end of 2025. It offers 45.1kWh and 51.1kWh battery options internationally, providing a range of up to 410 kilometers on a single charge. It will compete with the Mahindra BE 6 and the Hyundai Creta Electric.
Tata Sierra EV:
Tata Motors unveiled the production version of the Sierra EV at the Auto Expo 2025. The electric version is scheduled for release around the festive season, with the ICE version following. It could feature 65kWh and 75kWh battery options, similar to the Harrier EV, potentially offering a range of up to 627 kilometers on a single charge.
Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara:
The e-Vitara from Maruti Suzuki is slated to launch in India soon, with the initial production unit set for August 26. This electric SUV is expected to be offered with 61.1kWh and 48.9kWh battery options. The variant with the larger battery pack could provide a range exceeding 500 kilometers on a single charge.
Mahindra XEV 7e:
This new 7-seater electric SUV from Mahindra is scheduled for launch by the end of 2025. It will feature 59kWh and 79kWh battery options and is projected to deliver a range of over 600 kilometers on a full charge.
