    A recent cybercrime incident highlights the sophistication of online fraud. A man’s bank account was compromised, leading to a loss of ₹2.35 lakhs through an OTP-based scam. This case underscores the need for heightened vigilance against online threats.

    The victim, Rakesh Suryavanshi, was targeted while residing in a rented house in Vinoba Nagar, within the Tarbahar police station’s jurisdiction. The fraudsters utilized an OTP to gain access to his account. The incident occurred when he received an OTP message, shortly before ₹2,35,338 was illicitly transferred out of his account. The remaining balance after the fraudulent transactions was a mere ₹1,423.97.

    The victim immediately reported the incident to the police, prompting an investigation. A case has been registered against unknown individuals under sections 318 and 4 of the BNS, acknowledging the severity of the crime. The police are actively investigating the matter.
