The second day of the first Test between India and England in Leeds was marked by India’s underwhelming performance. Following their first innings score of 471, India’s bowlers struggled to gain control, and England closed the day at 209/3. India’s fielding proved costly, with three missed catches. Ravindra Jadeja’s dropped catch drew sharp criticism from the Barmy Army, England’s fan base, who made fun of the error on social media. Ollie Pope, after being given a life due to a dropped catch, went on to reach a century. Jasprit Bumrah continued to perform well by taking a wicket. Pope continued his innings, ultimately reaching his ninth Test century. By the end of the day, England had improved their position, reaching 209/3. India’s fielding errors were symbolic of their batting struggles, with seven wickets lost in a collapse.
