In a significant victory against left-wing extremism, security forces in Sukma, Chhattisgarh, have eliminated three Naxalites who were collectively carrying a reward of Rs 15 lakh. The gunfight occurred in the dense forest near Tumalpad village, on the fringes of the Bhejji and Chintagufa police station areas, on Sunday morning. The operation was a direct result of specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of Maoist operatives.

Post the encounter, the identities of the neutralized cadres were confirmed as Madvi Deva (Area Committee Member), Podiam Gangi (CNM Commander), and Sodhi Gangi (Kistaram Area Committee Member). The exchange of fire was intense and prolonged. During the subsequent search of the area, the bodies of the three Naxalites, two of whom were women, were discovered. Security forces also recovered a considerable arsenal, including Barrel Grenade Launchers (BGLs), a 303 rifle, VGA launchers, and other associated ammunition. Operations are ongoing to clear the region and ensure complete security. This success is part of a broader strategy to eradicate Naxalism, with security forces in the Bastar region having neutralized a significant number of cadres this year.
