A cyclonic storm, designated ‘Montha’, has begun forming over the Bay of Bengal, triggering alerts for Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Tamil Nadu. The storm is forecast to make landfall around October 28, potentially bringing powerful winds of up to 100 kmph and significant rainfall to Andhra Pradesh’s coast. Coastal populations are advised to prepare for severe weather.

Authorities have activated emergency response mechanisms, including the deployment of disaster management teams. Public advisories are being issued, encouraging residents in vulnerable areas to seek safe shelter and follow all safety protocols. The situation is under constant observation by meteorological experts.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that the storm’s intensity will increase considerably by Sunday, October 27. This intensification is expected to cause heavy precipitation across coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema until October 29. The current distance and direction of the storm are being precisely tracked.

Forecasters have warned of squally weather and rising wind speeds along the coast starting October 26, with conditions expected to worsen as the cyclone approaches. Preparedness measures are being scaled up in anticipation of the storm’s landfall.
