David Warner isn’t done dazzling in the Big Bash just yet. The Australian T20 icon, post-international retirement, has inked a fresh one-year deal with Sydney Thunder, the club announced Friday after his standout BBL 15 showing.

‘Can’t wait for more with Thunder,’ the 39-year-old enthused. He called the past season tough but highlighted a beefed-up team and electric fan crowds as key to staying put. ‘Their support was massive in my choice.’

Warner feels he’s got ‘a lot left to give,’ buoyed by his form and the fight he brought the side. The team is deep into season debriefs, crafting strategies for a bold BBL 16 push.

Trent Copeland, Thunder’s GM, beamed: ‘Retaining Davey? Easy call. Outstanding season from a global T20 great and BBL batting king. Peak fitness, and that leader’s fire to fix our disappointments – it’s undimmed.’

Warner skippered Thunder to rock bottom – 2-8 record in 10 games. Individually, though, he ruled: 433 runs from 8 innings, two centuries, two half-centuries, three not-outs, best of 130*. Strike rate 154.09, average 86 – clear top scorer, edging Finn Allen’s 430.

Warner’s loyalty offers hope to a franchise hungry for success. As he continues to light up the BBL, expect drama, runs, and leadership to fuel Thunder’s resurgence.
