The BCCI is implementing the Bronco Test as a fitness assessment for its fast bowlers, aiming to improve their on-field endurance. The test requires bowlers to complete a series of shuttle runs (20m, 40m, and 60m) in sets, with a total distance of 1200 meters. The target time for completion is 6 minutes. This initiative follows concerns regarding fast bowler fitness during the England tour, where several players struggled with injuries and fitness issues. The Bronco Test is intended to encourage bowlers to prioritize running and stamina training over excessive gym work. The test is an addition to the existing Yo-Yo Test. Some players have already undertaken the Bronco Test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
