The Asia Cup clash between India and Pakistan was filled with controversies that transcended the game itself. India’s team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, showed their stance by not shaking hands with Pakistan after winning. They then chose not to receive the trophy from ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the PCB chief and a Pakistani minister, known for his anti-India rhetoric.

Devajit Saikia, the BCCI secretary, strongly criticized Naqvi’s behavior during the awards ceremony, calling it “unsportsmanlike.” He stated that India would formally address the incident at the upcoming ICC conference in Dubai, emphasizing that the BCCI would not tolerate such actions. India refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi because of political tensions, but the team was surprised when he took the trophy and medals with him. The BCCI plans to lodge a strong protest against the ACC chairperson’s actions at the next ICC conference in November in Dubai. On the field, Tilak Varma’s impressive performance, including an unbeaten 69 off 53 balls, and Rinku Singh’s winning boundary, secured India’s ninth Asia Cup title.
