A special court under the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Bengaluru has sentenced three people to seven years in prison and a fine of ₹36,000 each. The sentencing came after the accused pleaded guilty to charges related to the August 11, 2020, attacks on the DJ Halli and KG Halli police stations. The convicted individuals were Syed Ikramuddin (alias Syed Naveed), Syed Atif, and Mohammed Atif. They were the 14th, 16th, and 18th accused, respectively, among a total of 199. The court is still hearing the cases of the remaining accused. Twelve vehicles were damaged during the incident, including one Innova car and five two-wheelers. The violence was triggered by a protest outside KG Halli police station. The protesters, led by Syed Ikramuddin, demanded the arrest of Naveen, a relative of the then-MLA Akhand Srinivas Murthy, for a social media post. Police imposed Section 144 of the CrPC to control the situation, which then turned violent.
