Passengers looking forward to the Vande Bharat Express and Amrit Bharat trains connecting Bhopal with Lucknow and Patna will have to wait longer than expected. The launch, initially scheduled for October, has been postponed. The trains are now expected to begin operations in December.

These high-speed trains are designed to reduce travel times between Bhopal and Patna, and Bhopal and Lucknow. Currently, Bhopal has over 15 trains running to Lucknow and 8 trains to Patna. Many of these trains experience significant demand, with waiting lists frequently reaching 40-60 passengers.

According to railway officials, the delay is due to the ongoing completion of necessary infrastructure. Both trains are planned to originate from Rani Kamalapati Railway Station in Bhopal. This station is undergoing preparations, including the construction of specialized washing pit lines and a Routine Overhauling (ROH) shed for Vande Bharat maintenance. These infrastructure projects are scheduled for completion by October.

The Amrit Bharat train will feature 20 coaches. A Bhopal rail division representative confirmed that these trains will be instrumental in improving connectivity. Plans include an 8-coach seating Vande Bharat train for the Bhopal-Lucknow route, and a 20-coach sleeper Amrit Bharat for the Bhopal-Patna route. The aim is to have these trains operational before the end of the year.

Once operational, the new trains will provide more convenient and comfortable travel options for passengers. The Vande Bharat service from Bhopal to Lucknow will offer both chair car and executive class seating. This high-speed train will shorten the journey time to 8-9 hours. Similarly, the Amrit Bharat Express on the Bhopal-Patna route will offer sleeper class accommodation and enhanced comfort for travelers.
