BHU PhD After a long wait of two and a half months, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has released the bulletin of PhD admission process for the academic session 2024-25. This time the process of application has started for 1540 seats in 140 subjects. The application process will start from Monday, January 8, 2025 and will continue till January 21, 2025.
Online Application Fee and Payment Process
The application fee for General, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates has been set at ₹600. Whereas for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) this fee is ₹ 300. Candidates can pay the fee online through credit card and debit card.
Seat Details and Application Process
This time the admission process is divided into two sections:
- RET (Research Entrance Test)
- RET Exempted (JRF and NET Qualified Candidates)
According to the bulletin, this time the facility of application has been provided for JRF qualified candidates. Apart from this, the candidates who have obtained qualification by appearing in the NET exam advertisement of 24th June 2024 can also apply.

- Physics: 75 seats
- Chemistry Department: 70 seats
- Faculty of Education: 52 seats
- History Department: 43 seats
- Geography Department: 38 seats
- Journalism Department: 10 seats
A total of 124 seats have been reserved for the four affiliated colleges.

- Document Verification and Interview: From 27 January to 12 February 2025
- Result Declaration: 15 February 2025
- End of Admission Process: 6 March 2025
- Reporting Date: 17 March 2025
NTA and BHU agreement
