On January 25, the players of Saurashtra (Association of Saurashtra Cricket) team had reached the airport to return to Rajkot after playing a match in Chandigarh. During this time, when the players’ kits were checked before keeping the luggage in the cargo, 27 bottles of liquor and two cases of beer were found in the bags of 5 players. This incident has created a sensation in Indian cricket.

    Let us tell you that the cricketers from whom liquor bottles and beers were found have been identified as Prasham Rajdev, Samarth Gajjar, Rakshit Mehta, Parshwaraj Rana and Smitraj Jhalani. This player is currently a part of Saurashtra’s Under-23 team in the CK Nayudu Trophy. This incident, which happened right in the middle of the tournament, has brought these 5 players under the scanner. Saurashtra Cricket Association Secretary Himanshu Shah expressed his displeasure over this incident, terming it as unfortunate and said that the Ethics/Disciplinary Committee and Apex Council of Saurashtra Cricket Association will investigate the incident in depth and take appropriate disciplinary action.

    There is a ban on the sale of liquor in Gujarat

    Gujarat is a dry state. Where people are not allowed to carry liquor in the state. However, the state government issues permits for visitors who can purchase liquor from its dedicated outlets. According to reports, out of the five players involved, the families of two players hold influential positions in the Association of Saurashtra Cricket (ASCA).

    It is noteworthy that the senior players have been accused of requesting the junior players to bring liquor for them. After this incident, the Association of Saurashtra Cricket (ASCA) has come into controversy as cricket lovers are waiting to see how they react to this horrific incident. Cricket boards may face a delicate balance of maintaining family ties within the association while ensuring discipline and accountability among players. A decisive decision is expected to be taken by the association in the coming days.
