Ranchi is buzzing with health sector optimism after Health Minister Irfan Ansari’s pivotal New Delhi rendezvous. The Centre has consented to an Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital in Jharkhand, a first for the state, as revealed post his talks with MoS Pratap Rao Jadhav.

Ansari emphasized the absence of Ayurvedic facilities hitherto. The dual setup—one public, one private—will train practitioners in traditional systems while offering hospital services. The agenda was ambitious: in-principle approvals for tech-infused labs across colleges using Japanese methods, targeting superior diagnostics right at home.

Patient convenience takes center stage. Upgraded labs in Ranchi Sadar and others mean fewer referrals out-of-state. Seat hikes in prime institutions—SNMCH Dhanbad, MGM Jamshedpur—from 100 to 250 MBBS spots, plus PG growth, await central inspections.

Every district will host Wellness Centres with shared funding, enhancing grassroots health. Central directives now support the Abua initiative. Jadhav commended the state’s model, signaling future visits. Accompanied by top brass like Ajay Kumar, Ansari’s diplomacy yields tangible gains for Jharkhand’s 3.3 crore populace.
