Bihar is facing a challenging situation as heavy rainfall continues to inundate the state. Continuous downpours over the last 24 hours have caused widespread flooding and disruption. Schools in several districts, including Siwan, Gopalganj, Rohtas, and Chhapra, have been closed due to the adverse weather conditions. A red alert has been declared for numerous districts, including Patna. The ongoing rain has caused extensive damage to infrastructure, and agricultural lands, impacting normal activities. Transportation has been severely hampered, with disruptions to both road and rail services. Flights to Patna have also been affected, leading to diversions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the weather will remain unfavorable for the next three days. A deep depression in the Bay of Bengal is moving in a northwesterly direction and is expected to trigger thunderstorms, lightning, and extremely heavy rainfall in certain parts of the state. The Disaster Management Department of Bihar, along with the Bihar Weather Service Center, Patna, has issued an alert for heavy rain, lightning, and strong winds from October 4th to 7th. The department has issued red alerts for Muzaffarpur and East Champaran and orange alerts for several other districts. Residents are urged to follow safety guidelines, including avoiding outdoor activities and seeking shelter in safe locations. The advisory emphasizes the need to stay away from potential hazards and provides emergency contact information.
