A violent incident unfolded at the Purnia district court in Bihar on Thursday as a husband was assaulted and subsequently abducted by his wife and her family. The event occurred during a court appearance related to the couple’s ongoing case. Witnesses observed the abduction, yet no one intervened.
The couple, involved in a dispute for the past year, hails from different areas within Purnia. The wife’s family alleges the husband and his father’s alcohol addiction caused the wife to leave. The husband’s lawyer stated that the man had applied to the police family center to restore their marriage.
The couple’s case was being heard in family court, and mediation attempts had failed. When the husband attended the hearing, the wife initiated a physical attack and then forcibly took him. The wife alleges that her husband has remarried and demands the return of the dowry if he desires to resume their marriage.
