The Congress party has intensified its preparations for the Bihar Assembly elections by appointing a team of 58 observers. The appointments, approved by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, include notable leaders such as Wing Commander Anuma Acharya (Retired), Ali Mehdi, Ashok Chandna, Manoj Yadav, Nadeem Javed, Shoaib Khan, Akhilesh Yadav, and Virendra Yadav. This strategic move is designed to bolster the party’s campaign and challenge the incumbent alliance.

During the previous elections, the RJD, the main party of the ‘Mahagathbandhan,’ contested 144 seats and won 75. The Bihar Assembly consists of 243 seats.

During the last election, the Congress contested 70 seats, managing to secure only 19. Another ally, the CPI (ML) Liberation, contested 19 seats and won 12. The elections are expected to take place in October-November.
