The issuance of voter ID cards to two Pakistani women residing in Bihar since 1956 has prompted an investigation. The District Magistrate of Bhagalpur has ordered the removal of their names from the voter list. The women, who are elderly, had come to India on visas decades ago. The case emerged during a state-wide voter list revision campaign.

The Ministry of Home Affairs is currently looking into the matter, as part of a larger effort to identify and address instances of visa overstays. The women, residents of the Bhikhanpur area in Bhagalpur, have been identified as subjects of the investigation. The District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police have been tasked with verifying the details and taking appropriate action.

The women’s voter ID cards were created, and the district administration is now working to correct the records. The local BLO confirmed that verification was done based on departmental guidelines. They possess their passports, visas, and EPIC numbers. The process of removing their names is underway.

When approached, residents of Imrana’s home were hesitant to speak. The son of Firdausia Khatoon claimed that an investigation hadn’t occurred at their residence, but the BLO visited earlier and all the required documents were provided, including their voting history.

District Magistrate Dr. Naval Kishore Chaudhary confirmed that the issue had come to light and that Form 7 would be used to handle the situation.
