The Election Commission of India is conducting a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list across Bihar as the state prepares for its upcoming assembly elections. The revision, starting June 25 and running until July 26, 2025, sees Booth Level Officers (BLOs) visiting households to collect voter information and fill out Enumeration Forms (EF). The process covers all 243 assembly constituencies and focuses on verifying the existing voter base of over 7.89 crore electors, identifying and adding eligible new voters, and removing ineligible ones. Both online and offline options are available for voters. Voters are provided forms to be filled and attested with necessary documents. SMS alerts are also being used to inform voters about the campaign, and political parties have actively participated in the process. The final voter list is scheduled to be released on September 30, 2025. The initiative has sparked political debate, with contrasting views on its objectives. The Election Commission urges voters to cooperate with the process to ensure they can participate in the upcoming elections.
